Artwork Statement

These pouring vessels have been made primarily to be used as jugs, but they could also be used to store foodstuffs in, hence the lids. The saucers are used both as handles - to carry the vessel on, and as drip catchers. Because I envisioned them being used for chilli sauce or other Asian sauces, I have used mixed media objects (lids, saucers) some of which were made in parts of Asia. I see them as cross-cultural objects that bring to mind the suburban Chinese Restaurant. They are made in groups because there is never just one of such objects - their true home is within a 'family' of objects. The artist 1996
