Artwork Statement

'These pieces were made in the first 12 months of working with bone china and the technique of casting, and were fairly unsophisticated and exploratory pieces. I worked with slipcasting bone china up until 1990 when I stopped for a period of time to re-assess the work. The carved bone china was stopped within 3 years as I didn't feel the surface quality was good enough but the painted work went on for a longer time. My work today is mainly wheel thrown and I'm working on some lines of functional porcelain using the painting techniques I first started on bone china. I still do carved work onto porcelain bowls'.
