Pippies are shellfish found in the sand and water washed down with the tide on out beaches on the North Coast of NSW, Australia and other beaches around our unique country.

Our Bundjalung Nation covers a wide area North to Tweed Heads and South to Iluka, and West to Tabulam expanding over many tribal areas that use this technique of hunting and gathering.

The gathering of pippies is customary for nay Goorie’s (Aboriginal People) living along the East Coast area of our ‘Bundjalung Nation’. This is also a part of out conventional food intake. Gathering pippies is a joint family activity for all to participate in but you only take enough for a feed.
