Artwork Statement

This works was made through an experimental process in which a photograph (Bromide Print) was printed onto a sensitised canvas. It was quite an experimental technique and Ruth Faerber can remember arts students looking carefully at it when it was first shown and saying "she's done it!". She reflects that they were probably working on a similar process. The original image was overpainted with spray paint and stencils. This created an effect where things floated in and out of the spray which Faerber very much enjoyed. A sister print of this work was enterest in the Hunters Hill Art Prize and purchased by Bernard Smith and donated to the MCA.
