Artwork Statement

"The seed for Pandora's Box germinated from my own personal experience of stage fright as a young girl. Playing the lead role of Pandora in front of my school assembly I froze like an iceberg. The work is untitled and then has the sentence 'she played the part of Pandora in a blanket of stage fright' so that the title is not substitutional for the work and to bring attention to the words being an equal element of the work. Words are objects in themselves. I further emphasised this concept in the work by etching the words on copper plate which float on the wall mimicking the qualities of the floating paper. The interpretative gap is an underpinning interest in my work which I feel is further emphasised through my use of image and text". The artist 1998
