Artwork Statement

'I try to paint people as if at any moment they will move, blink an eyelid. During painting I keep on talking to myself and write advice in notebooks, although I never read them. The next day they do not have much to do with what I'm doing, then and there. But the writing is always in the second person. Painting, it remains a conversation. The rest should be obvious. Rembrandt is my hero, after 300 years he still looks at me. And I like to paint dark corners in which light makes the painting. Dark corners in which you can get close, the cheeks pressing against the canvas. And when it is good, I hope, I get the feeling that someone else has made it'. The artist
