Artwork Statement

'Vase form: This was fired in an Anagama, an Oriental type kiln which I built and operated at Summertown after returning from Japan in 1975. The pot would have been made in the period 1976 to about 1982. The glaze inside and on the shoulders of the pot is an iron-ash glaze. The fire-marks on the side come from actual contact with the fuel used in firing. In Japan, these marks are referred to as Yohen (Fire-marks) and are much sought after by collectors'. 1998
