Ruth Faerber was born in Sydney in 1922 where her art career consisting of printmaking, painting and teaching art mainly took place. She is a veteran printmaker in Australian and has pursued a committed and explorative career, specialising in the medium of print, for over 60 years. Lismore Regional Gallery's collection represents her work from the early years of her practice, with As the Crow Flies 1965, to work from the 1970s and 1980s when Faerber made key breakthroughs with experiments with hand-made paper and incorporating the photographic image into her printmaking process. This exploration of different processes is continued in her most recent works which are digital prints, a process which is easier on her body now that she has reached her twilight years.
